THE FUTURE AWARDS 2008

Hey!
How is it going? Its the early hours of Wednesday already! I am soo glad the week is progressing swiftly.
I hope the new year is going well for all of y'all.
Those of u who made New Year's resolutions, hope u r still sticking to it!
Anyways, I get so surprised when I realize that I have covered an event more than once...for example, I covered the last edition of the Future Awards last year and here I am talking about this year's ceremony. Time flies!

The 3rd edition of the Future Awards took place on Sunday.
High achieving young Nigerian people from all over the world congregated in Lagos for the ceremony and by all indications, it was a great and inspiring event.
There were performances by Sasha, Yinka Davies and others while there were inspiring speeches by Oby Ezekwesili, Olisa Agbakoba amongst others.
With the green dress code in effect, the invited guests went all out to impress!

I'll be updating the post with more photos later.

The show was inspiring? Geez, it does not take much to be hyped in Nigeria. The show was disorganized -Period. We really need to start holding people to higher standards in 2008

Good God, what is up with that Denrele guy? There's individuality and then there's just Overdoing it. That guy just irritates me.

AShionye... not realy liking that dress. not flattering, somehow.

And i read the details of Linda Ikeji's blog. I also have to ask, like she did, what CRITERIA do they use to pick winners anywya????

disorganised? Cheta were we at the same event. Jeez you entertainment people in Naija can be ... arrgh!! I thot it was complteley worth my trip to Naija. You could actually try to be more specific.

Naija Chickito said...

Thanks for the updates.

chetablog said...

I should have said, it was better organized than most Nigerian shows but then that is nothing to rave about. Are u happy now? Sorry I thought they were trying to meet world standards of doing things. Is that not what we should be shooting for. We come to Bella Naija because her Blog is world standard.

I admire the idea of what my people want to do but please this is year 2008, the tools are there to do things properly USE IT.

The majority of the red carpets looks, look so contrived and just too too much. Emmy Collins is a designer but his look is too contrived trying tooooooooo hard. TY Bello gets my vote for best dressed because she just looks comfy, bright and young and shes perfectly appropriate. Its the future awards. This was not the Grammys or Oscars Hello or even Carnival? Some outfits I am just giving the crooked eye to like whutda heck?
I applaud Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie. Inspire the youth of Nigeria and you Bellizto mellisimo Bella naija keep doing what you does mami... raaaaaaaawwwwrrr.

Ronke Apampa is a cutie but I am not a fan of her interviewing skills and the way she plays with her mic like a little girl. Dont tell me she was nominated???????? The outsfits - a mess- Linda I love you girl but hell nah! Ronke your hair is a hot fuggin mess and whats that thing around her neck that looks like a snake. chei! Naija! I love my people o! LOL
congrats Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie! Well desrved win.

heyyyyyyyyyyyyyy bella, dropping it like its hot again , lol.

I definitely liked t.y's outfit, not too emphasised , jst simple and cute...........i thot her necklace was a bit much , but i think me likey anyways. I jst loved the yellow. Infact, young, black and beautiful (and did i 4get natural) best suits her. Wow what was that emmy collins wearing sef? i get the fact that u'r a designer but abegi !!!!!!

I have a crush on S.I.D, He raps and omg he's now a doc.......how cute. Has any1 got his mobile or sth? This girl here is crushing badly o.

Bella hi. For starters why is it that we don't tell the truth and nothing but the truth, so help me God. Ashionye's dress was a trip! Gosh! no jealousy intended / involved - i mean ... what was she wearing????

Ronke Apampa; i wasn't feeling her hairdo / hairstyle. I mean she is a presenter of international standard. What the heck is going on??? Where are the genuine stylists??? You know ... the one's that have got one's best interests at heart.

Bella anyways ... that's life. I rest my case.

T.Y BELLO Is so hottt! I love her

my comment on d dresses is simple...... am sure most of them got dressed in d dark cos NEPA struck again or summat.

Linda Ikeji... d dress was a hot mess.

Ashionye... d tailor must hate her ass cos d dress just did not make sense.

Emmy Collins.... if u sew ur clothes at his pls stop cos he will soon make all his customers a walking mess. like wat d hell was going on with d fugly outfit. it was all 2 much.

Ronke....d person who did her hair should b shot.... ok just joking but at least should b banned from touching other pples hair.

I cant believe ID Casablance won best music producer... who the hell is that? MOSA got robbed... btw he is the dude who produced TY's album... and that is the best album in Nigeria musically, lyrically, production wise, everything... this is how they promote excellence? by pickin some average joe in the name of the future?

Anonymous said...

Congrats to Chude and the rest organisers for a great initiative.

However, if you do not live in Lagos and are not addicted to naija tabloids or blogville gossip, most of the names are meaningless to millions of Nigerians.

How many of the nominees there live and work outside Lagos? I rest my case.

Big ups to the future awards! I see i did a good job picking Fuschia gift bags because those bags shine from afar!

The event was great. For three under 22 year old kids to pull this together and pull the folks that they pulled, i am sorry i bow to that.

Yes there is room for improvement and i assure that the improvement will come. They are not blind or deaf, they know what they need to do to make it better.

What they need is support and sponsorship from the entire community.

As in we should all be helping thenm to make the event the greatest ever.

Anyways...

Great seeing Linda and a bunch of other folks. It was tres fab to meet people like Derenle who has like one the best personlities out there.

Banke Meshida's smile is the most contagious smile ever.

Good seeing yall!

hmmm, i don't know mannn! was green the theme of the night. saw someone in braids on the red carpet...a few metres from her is this dude sitting on the ramp reading a book? where were the organisers? and what was the photographer thinking when he shot her?. that just kills it Pinggg?????

is that the lagbaja lady....i luv her voice.

Icy sharrap jare Lindas outfit wasnt all that smooth where? lol anyyyyway I love Linda attitude though she's like y'all can laugh at me or laugh with me- shes a good sport! lol Ty Bello cute ddressed appropriately and Dbanj sexzzy as always- yummmm!

Anonymous said...

ok... @ anonymous... first let me say congrats to the Future awards organisers....i was nominated as music producer of the year but didnt win...(watch out next year)

ID cabassa deserved to win the award.....he has added plenty to nigerian music industry...Mosa is fab...but just as me.. the nigerian media have not really felt our mettle...same with don jazzy..outside dbanj and weired mc.. so give us time to grow.. and earn the ranks

just for the records ID cabassa produced for acts like (9ice, ruggedman, faze to mention a few...etc...)so before you talk about big guns ....know your facts!

big ups to all the winners!

I agree with anon 10:51 na Lagos thingy jare. Dem dey vote for themselves lol.

@alex yangs... congratulations on your whole tirade... the award said MUSIC PRODUCER OF THE YEAR... to me the best producer in Nigeria is MOSA... never heard that quality of production from naija... i dont know u should consider him a big gun because he still unknown from what i hear... i respect that naija producers are still developin... but until I hear beats the quality of greenland, or beautiful, or never walk alone, i wont respect this win... if we are celebratin excellence, then why not give it to the best... best of luck with ur career though... at least yall are tryin to get better...

Anonymous said...

@anon10:51, etc: many of the nominees live and work outside Lagos. In fact a good number of the winners are so NOT based in lagos. Did you look at the list? Abdulkareem baba Aminu, Mak Kusare etc. Did you see the Indispensables from Port Harcourt, Mubarak Abdullahi from Kano etc etc? Go check again pls!

where u really at the awards, there was a guy who came in with a hot model, his suit was hot like fire; green / gold damask design his shoes also marched his suit. ha! ha! his pictures were taking by pfotographers more than anyone else as he walked in, get his pictures i beg! he his an artist/model we want to see his pictures he definately he was the bomb., you couldnt have missed him.

Anonymous said...

I think y'all just hating...especially those who dissed the winners. Go do something and stop hating!

@ Bobby...interesting that you call under22-yr olds kids, is it cos they are in Nigeria? Cos I don't see them as such. Read their profiles and must say I admire what they have been able to do so soon! And can not also say same about you? - smart idea with the bags tho!

@ the-pro-MOSA-in-all-foolishness person...I hear where ID Cabassa speaks, your MOSA cant be granted entry!

Well, expecting the organisers to put up the winner [and maybe, finalists] profiles so everyone can see and judge!

@ chetablog...you are the BIGGEST 'badbelle' I've ever read...

Anonymous said...

@anonymous 5:06 PM: Mr.'the-pro-MOSA-in-all-foolishness person' is back and really wondering what your comment has to do with who the best producer is. Just wondering.
