SIKA - GHANA

SIKA is a Ghanian clothing brand based in the UK. Designer Phyllis Taylor is the brains behind SIKA and she has been making great strides in the fashion industry by fusing traditional Ghanian fabrics such as tie and dye, batiks and wax prints with contemporary styles.
Her clothes were featured at the CatWalk for World - Fashion For Food event in Ghana and the crowd loved it!
Check out some of the designs!

What do u think?
Fiyah or blah?
Are u sick and tired of ankara or do u feel that its still hot?

I love the dresses, esp. the first one. Its a wearable collection. I can see a lot of people wearing this. I also think they design some of their own wax prints.

GHANANAIN PRINTS (INCLUDING WAX, TYE & DYE AND KENTE CLOTHS) ARE THE BEST IN AFRICA - I THINK.

THEY ARE JUST SOOO BEAUTIFUL.

LOVING IT.

ankara/woodin/etc are SOOOO all over the place that they're becoming a little offensive, lol. don't get me wrong o, i kinda sorta like this contemporary revival that has been fanning itself out for a few years...but there's really nothing innovative other than the fact that it has now become clear to everyone that anything is possible in ankara, lol

i really hope this craze sweats itself out because it's becoming very irritating. it's time for something new...

that said, the designs are cute...but there's nothing original or awe-inspiring about them...and i'm seriously getting tired of seeing the same ol' thing and hearing it called a "collection".

The designs are so so cute and as koki said its a very wearable collection.I think ankara is still hot. I know its had more than its fair share in the limelight and it's becoming abit common but still it rocks.

You know 6 months ago I fo begin trip... It's funny how using a different fabric and sewing the same style can make a fit look unique. I love the look. I'm just not sure it's refreshing in terms of the design. Most of these designs have been done before.

I think the choice of fabric is wut is making it illusive

I would still rawk it though.! ;)

these designs are lovely. the idea of african prints on everyday/western clothes is simply genius (whoever started it). it doesn't look nigerian to me.

then again, what do i know about women fashion :c)

I just saw this site in Grazia magazine today and had to look up her clothes ... I really love them. I love the 50s theme of the dresses because it's my favourite clothing era!

Beautiful creations.

I think Ankara because of its eclectic design will be around for eons... the selling point is that they bring out the beauty of simplicity

Bella, SIKA's designs are gorgeous. I am infatuated with the light blue mini-babydoll dress with bow. I hope she continues to do well. I can see myself wearing all those garments! Thanks for the pics.

wow! did not know the clothes looked equally as good in pictures. i was priviledged enough to watch the show and i must say her clothes are fantastic. She is definitely going places showing alongside super designers like Ozwald Boateng and Deola Sagoe. Girl you are blessed and i see creativity in her designs that goes beyond the fabric. People come on! It does not end with the fabric looks like this designer can work her magic on other fabrics but she decides to use our own African print and why not? Pls stop criticising designers about originality In the fashion industry nothing is really new everyone trust me you ve seen it all before or at least variations of it or what do you think? Its all about inspirations and where it comes from 50's, 20's thats entirely up to you. Ciao

I love it but yes the I think the ankara all over the place is too much. I dont want it to go away but how about some variety. I also love to see some african designers that are a bit less on the edge ie. that design along contemporary clean classic lines but I guess thats kinda boring.

abi na just me, but I lived in Abidjan and even in 92, woodin was all over the place, infact I've to dig up my old stuff. I'm still trying to figure out why its now we are all oohing and aaahing about it in Naija

The fashions from SIKA are very hip... I would wear them all!

They mix current styles with African fabrics and could feature anywhere in the world and on anyone!!

GREAT JOB SIKA...
Another good find Bella :)
