T.Y
Photography has really exploded in Nigeria! With all the new photo studios offering professional services and the wonderful photographers we all see on shutterchance, photography among Nigerians is no longer child’s play.
My favourite photographer is Toyin ‘T.Y’ Bello nee Sokefun

T.Y is one of Nigeria’s foremost photographers and is part of the prestigious 'Depth of Field' Collective…

BIKINI AFRIQUE
We have so many beaches in Africa but we hardly hear anything about beachwear and swimwear.
I personally LUV the beach.
When in Lagos, my saturdays are ideally spent speeding off some isolated beach in the middle of nowhere. If u havent done this yet, do not let this xmas go by without going to the beach (I am not talking about Lekki, Alpha or Bar beach lol, try something different)
Anyway, swimwear is actually big business in the fashion industry.
For now we do not have any Nigerian designers that focus on this niche but here are some African designers doing it big in swimwear and beachwear. ENJOY.
Tracy B Swimwear

Amanda Laird Cherry Swimwear

Black Coffee Swimwear

Colleen Eitzen Swimwear

JBS Swimwear

Stoned Cherrie Swimwear

Sun Goddess Swimwear

So, what do you think? Hot or Not?
Will it be a good idea for a Nigerian designer to start making swimwear?
Any fun beach stories? Let us know...
Have a great week!!!!!!

NIGERWIVES
Hey Everyone,

How is your week going?
Hope all is great!
Anyway, check out this article from Joy Magazine on foreign women who packed up everything to move to Nigeria when they married Nigerian men.
It's very interesting!

So wht do u think?
Would you pack up and move PERMANENTLY to a foreign developing country for your man/woman?
I don't think I could.....
I feel these women are soooo brave for taking such a step! That's love...
I mean after watching things like the 20/20 documentary on Nigerian scammers, I'm sure most people would be like 'Hell No!' lol....
I also think that most men would not do it.....as in pack up and follow their wives to her country.
I also think that most men would not do it.....as in pack up and follow their wives to her country.
While we are on the issue, check out Jeremy Weate's blog - Naijablog
He's British and moved back to Nigeria with his Nigerian partner, Bibi..
I dont know the details but I think its pretty cool
Also check out Araceli Aipoh's blog (she is featured in/wrote the article above).
She moved back to Nigeria with her husband and has lived there for many years.
Anyway, let us know what u think!

~ I'M BACK ~
Hey People!!!!!!!!
I’m back!!!
First up, thanks sooooo much to my guestbloggers – TC, Adaure, Dammie, Don Chi and Icy…Much luv! Thanks for helping out, I owe u one!
I have missed u guys madly!!!
I have been wanting to blog since I got back on Monday night but I have been so exhausted!
My trip was utterly fab…
I am sooooo glad I went! I will have to make a return trip to DC/Maryland ASAP!...
I didn’t even end up going ‘out’ as in clubbing or anything like that but I still had mad fun!
I met loads of people so that was really cool…I also had some very funny experiences..
Let me give you guys some tidbits…
As in, I usually go to New York whenever I go to the states so I am kinda used to NY guys and their madness
I didn’t know that DC guys were on the same page o
I was downtown DC (I think its downtown anyway…I’m talking about where the white house, congress building etc are) so I was waiting for my ride to pick me up so I decided to walk around….
I went to the congress building, there was this police officer there, in uniform and everything o! so dude was like
‘hi, do u have any questions?’….I was like ‘nooooo’…
before I knew it, he was like
‘what is your name?’…
‘do you want to go for dinner?’
‘take my number and I’ll give u a free tour!’….
LOL..I was stunned..
Anyway, walking back, guys would just randomly say things like
‘damn you are fine’
‘you are one attractive young lady’
Etc…
I just had to start laughing…
By the way, I was dressed very simply, as in no booty or boobs hanging out….lol..
The final straw was when one dude in a CLS waved to me, the way the dude waved…I thought ‘oh maybe I know him’, I just smiled and kept on walking…do you know that this guy drove around the block! Caught up to me walking and said we ‘must!’ go for dinner…lol…he was a really cute African-American dude + smelled really nice (lol)…I didn’t give him my number tho lol…
There is lots more gist from my DC/MD trip but we’ll stop with this…
So the morale of my story is ladies, if u r looking for a man, go to DC…lol
I am glad to be back tho…
Here is this True Love photo feature on women who run night clubs in Nigeria.
I really luv it because it’s a gutsy move for any woman in Nigeria where any women in the spotlight becomes the victim of incessant gossip and endless drama…
Nice one ladies, I am proud of u…I added Maeva Taiwo from Tanjia because she deserves a place on the list.

Booky Younatie – Kileleyio

Catherine Effiong – Saga VIII

Louise Priddy – Bacchus/6 Degrees North

Maeva Taiwo – Tanjia
Maeva is originally from Tahiti and is married to Ladi Taiwo

AFRICA'S NEXT TOP MODELS BY ICY
My girl Icy is guestblogging today....please show her some luv...
I'll be back tomorrow!
So what do you think of modelling as a career?
I'll be back tomorrow!
Sup bellanaija readers. Happy Tuesday o my people o ha una dey. No I’m not fighting to be the fess to post on Bella’s blog today (considering I don’t even win prize- Bella you need to fix that) . Even better, I get to post on Bella’s Blog.. Omo das jes sexy lol … Ok ok I digress…. Woosssaaa
*Clears throat and gets serious*
I hope I do justice to Bella’s blog today as Tuesday is my favourite day of the week. Today I’m totally, utterly and completely zeroing in on MODELS. AFRICAN MODELS IN AMERICA. I was going to zero in on Nigerian Models but that will not do this entry justice. But as withmost things African. There are usually more Nigerians in the mix.
As a part-time model (4 years). Things have changed over the past 4-5 years and I have been a first hand witness to the influx of Nigerians, Ghanaian, Somalian, Zimbabwean, South African, Kenyan and many other Models of African Nationalities in America that have embraced the modeling industry. It’s not an easy profession and mehn, the dues you have to pay unless you get a nice fat check for one gig.
There is a new breed of Nigerian… excuse me, African Models. Yes we hear about the babz and blokes in South Africa in France, Milan, Japan. I’m talking about the breed of African models in American. Who are bold daring and fabulously African. They don’t hide it and their features more than give you a perfect indication of their heritage.
These men and women are with various agencies across America. From Elite to Ford to Wilhelmina to Click. I mean working models . There are a lot more that I know I am not aware of. Please feel free to tell us all in your comment and list other models you know of sorta doing their own thing in the background.
I have a question for you all though. (I’m assuming 80% of bella readers are Naija/African ppl)
What is your honest opinion about models. African models in particular. Do you think they don’t’ push the envelope like their counterparts. Is that hindering the success curve?
Here are some of the many models. Enjoy and have a fun-tastic day. RAWK ON PEEPS!!!
