WEEKEND LUV - THE RETRO EDITION

I have been sooooo busy this week!
Its just been crazy...I have so many things to do at home and at work....
Next month is going to be even crazier but God will give me strength....
Dont worry, next week is going to be fiyah! I have a lot of things planned so lets see how it works out!
Enjoy!

What's Hot?
Icy's blog has been on fiyah this week! She's been running an excellent tribute to naija guys.....
Go check it out...I can feel the temperatures risin' - HERE
BGT is celebrating enterprising Nigerian women......young women doing big things! She also has some hella fab Peridot & Ruby pics. Check on it - HERE

The Roundup
29 Year Old South African Legend, Lebo Mathosa passed away this week. She was killed in a tragic car accident. She was known for her bold vivacious nature....She really broke a lot of boundaries for female musicians in Africa and will be remembered for her vibrant personality and groundbreaking career! May her soul rest in perfect peace.

A memorial service was held mark the 1st anniversary of the passing of First Lady, Stella Obasanjo. Her son Muyiwa Obasanjo and his wife Imelse were at the event. I can't believe its been a year already.

Anita Hogan, the Nigerian actress and former reality star got married to her fiance. If you remember Anita and her boyfriend were embarrassed by a huge scandal when their nude photos were published on the internet and in some newspapers.

One of Nigeria's foremost fashion and beauty photographers, Yetunde Ayeni (she shot this fab photoshoot - see here) tied the knot with her media/advertising executive fiance, Steve Baba Eko. The couple had what has been dubbed as Nigeria's first beachfront wedding. They arrived at the spectacular La Campagne Tropicana Beach Resort in Ibeju-Lekki via a Caverton helicopter. Congrats to the couple!

Madonna rocked an ankara outfit while clarifying her adoption saga on Oprah. Fab!

Thanks to Uzo for reminding me about this!
Umoja is coming to Nigeria.....the famous South African theatre production is finally here. I actually saw it in London some years ago...it was SPECTACULAR! Click on the official flyer for more information.

I remember "La Campagne Tropicana" wasn't there a commercial or something about it where you had to say it real fast? I might be mistaken...

Pele O! I feel you on the busy tip.

Yet another great post. This one has definitely taken me back. I love that Ifeoma song...my Ibo name is Ifeoma so I used to get that one a lot. My godfather is Emma Ogosi(old school Naija artist)...LOL....that's how I got that name. As for One Love...classic song that is still so relevant. Onyeka is a trip....and she still looks great. She's definitely become more spiritual as time has passed. She came to mine and my sis's grad party a cple years ago in Naija and gave us each a great book about prayer that I still have. Ahhhhh....memories.

Bella, Bella, Bella!!! You are the real S#&T!!! God bless u for taking me down memory lane with Onyeka's "One Love keep us together".....can't believe i am actually crying listening to the song.............abeg, someone pass me some kleenex. You really outdid yourself on this one. If i may ask where in God's name did you dig up the song? Omo,its been ages since i heard that song. That jam actually was my bestfriend's jam (She passed in 1994 of sickle cell anemia) it was our little friendship song back in elementary school. Mehn!!! Listening to that song had me flooded with memories i had of her.

The tragic and untimely death of the SA pop singer, Lebo, is indeed a great loss. However, I don't think she should be described as a 'legend'. Legends are generally on the scene for decades before achieving such a status in the public's mind. Miriam Makeba is a legend. Lebo, at 29, wasn't.

She's did great though, having achieved so much so young, at an age when most people are still trying to figure out their role in life. Thanks for reminding us.

So so sad about Lebo, she had such a fiery personality...
Now about the old schools songs.. Wherever in the world do you get them??
I last heard Onyekas' "one love" at my sisters wedding in August... Makes me reminisce still...

This weekend, can you give us some info on the concert featuring Jazz great Earl Klugh with Lagbaja at Muson???? I want to go and cant get more info anywhere.

I am happy Anita married her man after that scandal. I am going to go out on a limb here and say that i doubt any of my Nigerian brothers would have stayed with her after that catastrophe that cost the man his job

Hi Bella,
ur blog is great!!!!
I'm more impressed now that I've searched the entire web for Onyeka Onwenu's ONE-LOVE and only found some useful link to some audio that (should work) on your blog. Thing is the download time has expired.
Will appreciate if you could repost or send????????????
