D'BANJ ALBUM & FOUNDATION LAUNCH

Yes, yes...I know I'm late but better late than never sooooo fileee!
As you have probably heard, D'Banj released his eagerly anticipated new album 'The Entertainer' on the 25th and 26th of July 2008.
Both events were held at the Expo Center, Ocean View Victoria Island Lagos, Nigeria.
Along with the album release, D'Banj also launched his charitable foundation aptly named 'The Koko Foundation'.
Both events drew large crowds including politicians, actors/actresses, musicians and fans.
Here are photos from the events - Check out D'Banj, Nollywood stars and all the other stylish guests along with my fav fashion picks!

Actress Bimbo Akintola looked stunning in her halter neck floor length black dress. The dress is uber-flattering to Bimbo's voluptuous figure. She pulled off this look perfectly.
I'm feeling this look. The flowy Zara dress, accessorized with the chandelier earrings, nice makeup and hair. I would have paired it with a different coloured clutch but that's just me. She looks fab! This look is very appropriate for the event, not too formal, not too casual, just right. I love the billowy fabric, the vibrant colour and the contrast of the yellow and black.
I really like the conservative yet trendy look. The pink (Not sure if its MyQ or LDA) top paired with the matching headwrap and well-fitted jeans. Actress, Susan Peters rocks the dress really well. How many ladies can wear a tight fitted mini dress in a bright colour and still look glam? Not many. So many points for that. For those who want to brave this look, I would recommend soft makeup and simple accessories. The Stars

OK seriously, i don't mean to come across evil, but i so have to keep it real. Most of the ladies look great...but some just look a hot mess, its like they dressed up in the dark or something. Now i love Uche Jombo, although i think her acting sucks atimes, but seriously mehn, it hurts me to see her looking like this..so how about i just call a spade a freaking spade: "Uche darling, u need to hang up that dress", she looks like a flippin' tuber of yam stuffed in a bag...as in what in the world was she thinking???

Errr, Aunty MBGN, the contest is over now honey, lay off on the barbie look and please  do hang up that flippin' "Quinceanera" inspired dress...no hating here, just keeping it real...its a freaking album launch not the Miss World competion...a good 'ole simple short black dress would have done her justice. Okay, now that i got that out of my system...lol...Bimbo Akintola looks stunning as usual...gotta to love her style. The second lady looks well put together, dress is so on point...perhaps "naija socialites" can take a cue from her, less is best! But the purse...odikwa, another tory.

The chick in the yellow dress is absolutely gorgeous...love the look..well thought out...tres fab!Now ol' girl with the jeans and pink top....sorry but i just ain't feeling the look...it looks like a throw back J-LO combo gone wrong...sorry but i just ain't feeling it. Chick in the purple dress looks great...it takes a lot of balls to pull off a color like that...although she could lighten up on the fire engine red lipstick...too doggone bright for her skin tone.

In honor of the last post below, lol,  this is not in any form or shape, an "act" of hating on another chick...i  gave due props to those who came correct, but i'm sorry, gotta call out those who are half-stepping it as well.BTW, D'banj looks great. That boy has definately got everyone's attention.

okay.........

anywho my two cents is we don't have to be catty to comment on people's fashion do we? cuz on the grand scale of things, it really isn't that serious.

dbanj album is fantastic. cop it. Koko Foundation is genuine and real. for underpriviledged kids in riverine areas.

Agggggggggh.

So for months and months, my honey has said i am a kokolet..and of course i kept saying of course not..the man is talented but i am soooooooo not a huge fan like that.

With this album, yes, i have to agree that i am a major major fan.

The cd is truly amazing. Lots of dance tracks and just entertaining all round.

Track 3 - Olorun Maje is one of my faves and is about the haters and essentially saying God forbid or God will not allow them to win.

Track 4 is so hot. It is titled Igwe and Dbanj bandies some Igbo around..Very entertaining, funny and of course danceable.

My absolute fave is track 7 - Fall in Love....Honey played it for me when he got the cd and its now our new song. Its tongue in cheek - calling your baby my sweet banana (LOL)...The lady that adlibs on the chorus has a pure voice, Dbanj takes himself a little seriously on this song and it works. There is an instrumental part of the song - the bridge which is truly divine...he then spins it around again with some singing reminiscent of South Africa's Laysmith Black Mambazo...Love it.

Track 6 - Celebrate with Wande Coal is also very groovy and track 10 - The Entertainer is hilarious...Dbanj says he doesnt even have to sing anything or make sense to entertain you and goes on to prove it....A fabulous effort.

There is growth on this cd and Dbanj seems to finally be at peace with his style of music - entertaining, loud and fun music backed by the production stylings of the oh so talented Don Jazzy.

Another thing of note is the heavy instrumental influences on this track. Reminds me of Fela. I have always thought that while i dont like Fela's vocal stylings, i believe he is one of the greatest jazz musicians to come out of Africa - hear him play that Sax on any track and he would usually play for more minutes than he vocalized..Anyway, i listened hard on Dbanj's cd and i heard some pretty quality instumentals ascting as bridges on the songs...

Fabulous all round..

The clothes...LOL...emm okay on the ladies i guess..

Banky W's Mr Capable cd is out here as well and i have some thoughts on this as well....

Nice on Bella

Nice pixs Bella, most of them looked amazing. Bimbo was just fabulous! And While I love Stella, her whole look was wrong. The hair, the makeup, her top was not fitting, the purse didn't match the outfit and where in the world did she get those cheap jeans?! And what cut is the jeans? classic? skinny? just wrong.

d'banj looks like his mama, but has his dad's complexion!

IMPORTER, EXPORTER ...KOKOWATER!!!!

Lol...i just logged on to see that you also have a D'banj post today. Great minds think alike. You can bet I have nothing bad to say about the new album...hotness all over. In fact it is too hot that i need some ice 'kold kokowater'. Unfortunately missed to album launch but I am sure I have plenty of opportunity to make up....FILE!!

about MBGN...the outfits she wears to events are provided by 'wardrobe sponsors'. If you don't like or appreciate what she is wearing and have a designer/stylist/boutique owner friend who would like to CONTRIBUTE to her wardrobe and associate with the MBGN brand, you know what to do, shoot an email.

@Lola, sorry if i hit a nerve, i was only giving an honest opinion as brutal as it may sound...i wasn't being mean or catty at all...its all love baby!

@Bella, lol...omo u are too funny...as soon as u put me on your payroll, i will gladly do your fashion reviews...lol.. SIKE!!! U know i'll gladly hook u up, being an ex-blogger and all...although i know u're just kiddin'...keep up the good job with the blog

@Adaure...didn't know the pagent girls were "obligated" to wear whatever was provided by the "sponsors".....just hypothetically, if a sponsor donates a 1980's puffy,lacey,dress...with huge shoulder pads and all...u know the kind that screams of the Cindy Lauper/Madonna era..(think u can picture it)...would u support she wears the dress as well? Probably not, all i'm saying is, the dress was so not appropriate for the event. Don't get me wrong, she's a beautiful girl...but her outfit is a definate no, no....oh, and the bit about getting someone to hook her up, common, she's only challenged when it comes to fashion...i don't think she's a charity case :)...glad to have u back though Adaure...u sure know how to make a come back!

Dbanjs Album Launch was great!

Kudos to Cecil Hammond, Mohits Staff and everyone that worked behind the scenes. So much work was put into this event.

Everybody that blessed or touched the event one way or the other.

Dbanj is THE entertainer or all times.. The Koko Foundation is already doing, and has done many great things.
Mr. Ambassador...!

I am proud. Honored too.
