Hey Everyone,
How’s it going? How was your week?
My week has been crazy so far. Numerous meetings, hours spent in traffic plus I have a cold. Not fun. Anyway, as always, I like to focus on the sunny side of things so I feel happy and blessed.
I tell people that you cannot be sensitive or lack self-confidence in Nigeria. Many people are very comfortable with giving you unsolicited opinions and advice. how do you handle it? I need some tips.

I will really like some feedback on what you will like to see on bellanaija. What should I do less of and what should I focus on. All suggestions are welcome. Remember our Bella Naija staples: Aunty Bella & BN Prose all reader contributed so if you will like to be a part of this, email me at bellanaija @ gmail.com
Have a fab weekend.
B
all d videos are cool, but eldee is d best
ReplyDeleteI like that J Martins, P-Square and Timaya collabo.
ReplyDeleteThings I'd like to see (more of) on Bellanaija:
* Remember when you did african and nigerian fashion week a while ago?
That would be fun to do again.
I know SA fashion week is just concluding so you can highlight Nigerian designers that were featured.
* Also with the conversations going on about lack of black models on the runway it will be nice to see a feature of african/ nigerian models lighting the runway in NY, Paris and SA
that's all I can think of, I'll write some more ideas as I remember them.
lol. gurl am currently in Naija now, and let me tell u. LEARN TO CLOSE UR EARS TO NEGATIVE MESSAGES. there is nothing u GAIN from negative advice, opinions or watever, it will do NOTHING BUT BRING U DOWN.
ReplyDeleteu know what I do. I smile, I nod, I pretend am listening, while I tell myself that God is for me, and what MAN thinks does not matter. and then I say thanks and walk away.
Best of lucks with everything, Keep ur head up and always remember that being positive is the only way to be.
The charity idea is a very good one ...Nigeria is going places ...Amen
ReplyDeleteIt would be great to have more posts on fashion in Nigeria and inspirational entepreneurs doing great things in Nigeria.

as per unsolicited advice...ignore ignore ignore. if u want to be polite &nice..you can say thank u but ignore...as long as you know what you are about then u'll be fine...God dey your side.
ReplyDeletepeople are free to give advice and you are also free to accept or reject it.
on a brighter note...you are doing a fab job with your blog...pls keep it up...:)
Bella,
ReplyDeleteRegarding unsolicited advice tell them thanks you will put it in prayers for God to show you the right way. Silly people they wouldn’t analyze their own life o, by force by force mentors lol!
Please stop those Saturday interviews they are VERY annoying. I’m sorry but I have to be honest, I’m always so irritated with the stupid questions and the even more retarded replies. Just my 2 cents!
Please I want to see more of Aunty Bella and follow up stories to the ones you posted previously! More of the African Fashion Shows and even more on the young entrepreneurs!
Thanks Bella you ROCK!
AS FOR THE OPINIONS AND ADVICE, TAKE THE CONSTRUCTIVE ONES NO MATTER HOW BAD THEY SOUND AND IGNORE THE RUBBISH. RITA IS ALWAYS GORGEOUS, THIS GIRL NEVER HAS A BAD MOMENT. AND BELLA, YOU KNOW HOW AWESOME YOU ARE RIGHT? THANKS FOR THE PICS AND VIDEOS:)
ReplyDeleteNot to be a downer, but I'm curious to know if in fact the Chicken Republic stunt was for charity or for better sales. Where can we find more information as to what charity fund or awareness they were promoting.
ReplyDeleteonly got one question..
ReplyDeletewhat is makosi doing in nigeria?
cooooooolll, new stuff posted.
ReplyDeleteOh, that's nice that the celebs came thru like that. Rita is looking nice.
ReplyDeletenice post bella, keep it up

ReplyDeleteI dunno, Even though ur still fab, I don't rush over here as I used too, yes more aunt bella, more african fashion
isn't popafricana marvellous? wat ever happened to haute magazine
Fashion will be cool, but I want to see more things that r inspirational, like things dat shows Naija is moving forward not only in fashion but in other areas like business. Put more "Dear Bella" letters. I'm feeling a lot of naija songs, but let's try not to imitate too much of American style. Let's be original and unique. Thanks Bella, I really appreciate what you are doing.
ReplyDeleteCongrats to Ayo Animashaun and the whole Hip Hop World Crew!!!
ReplyDeleteI am also happy to see that more and more Nigerians are realizing that a lot of awareness needs to be made about a lot of the issues in Nigeria.
Kudos!!
Bella great to see you're back( kinda)!!!
I love Bosi gbanga!!!
ReplyDeleteBella, anything you write, I love!
Abuja virgin (my new blog)

ReplyDeleteYour admirer in London...
I honestly thot Banky's was a music video -'Etisalat' ?? they need to redo this ad as it doesnt inform the audience about the co at all.
ReplyDeleteNice videos and pictures bella keep it up
ReplyDeletehttp://www.myspace.com/slamslamma
ReplyDeletewhat do you think?
Do you any good tailors?
ReplyDelete@Anon 5:27 PM- Please, please we use designers these days, not Tailors!!!
ReplyDeleteWhen people are negative I try to listen and learn from it but people can be crazy and sometimes it is too much. Think of God's goodness and Hallelujah through life because no matter what it is a blessing. I was born in the U.S. I have been learning too many things about race and how crazy America can be! -Amaka
ReplyDeleteI love what you do already on fashion and entertainment. But I think I would like to see more info about books and literature. It would appear that nigerian literature and publishing scene is waking up, so your blog is a fantastic opportunity to promote what is happening in the book world in Nigeria.
ReplyDeletebut you're doing great stuff my sister. keep it up.
Designer,Tailor, Obioma, it does not matter. i am sure Rosemary in my mother's BQ calls herself a tailor. Afterall, her clients point at the catalogue and she sews, or she might suggest something and will turn out fab for her clients. Not everyone uses, likes or can afford Remi Lagos, Frank Oshodi, Deola Sagoe et al.
ReplyDeleteThanks anonymous @ 7:54 PM...Tailors/Designers, it doesn't matter...If you know any, I'd like their contact information.
ReplyDeleteI'm so loving all my 9ja peeps & there videos its so cool.
