Hi!!!!
Hope your week is going well! Mine is still fantastic….as I said in my blog post earlier in the week, I’m not working this week so I’m a very happy bunny!
I am going to do some extensive shopping starting from tomorrow until the weekend. I hope I find some nice things in the stores.
Its funny how when you are all fired up for shopping, you go to the stores and NOTHING! Everything just looks off or boring….oh well, I hope that doesn’t happen.
The other night, I was supposed to meet up for dinner with a friend, I was on my way there when she called and said she would be late so I decided to do some late night window display browsing (stores were closed), as I was passing the Chanel store, I saw this Nigerian girl, she was holding a huge Chanel shopping bag in front of the store and she had an older lady with her (I’m assuming it was her mum), she was now holding up the shopping bag and posing for a pic in front of the store. When her mum took the first pic, she checked it and went to repose for another one, as in holding the shopping bag in front of her and raising it up. This girl looked like she was in her mid-20s….
I was like, this is serious for real!….watch out...photo coming to a facebook page near u soon! lol
Anyways, enough of my rambling.
Here are some tidbits.
So the Apprentice Africa has been going on for some weeks now, just wanted to give you guys an update. Here are the ‘apprentices’ that have been eliminated so far.
Week 1: Hannah Bertilla Acquah
Week 2: Michelle Ikenador
Week 3: Anthony Njagi Migui
Week 4: Omar Bah
Its been interesting so far. I luv Biodun Shobanjo, he was truly an inspired choice as the ‘boss’. Anyways, you can watch video recaps HERE
Here are the photos of the contestants for the 2008 Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria (MBGN) pageant.
I am a fan of MBGN and have followed the contest ever since I was a lil’ girl.
I admire their commitment over the years, even before Nigerian girls started winning/placing at international pageants.
That said, when I saw these photos, my first thought was ‘hmmmm are you serious?’
Lets just hope that its just the makeup or something. I wont judge until I see photos from the pageant itself this weekend.
Anyways, check the contestants out and let us know what you think.

Maybe I just don't know, but aren't contestants supposed to be from the state they represent? Like since when is an Igbo girl from Nassarawa state or I might just not know?
ReplyDeletehmm na lie, na me be first?
ReplyDeleteAnd then, their makeup is too much... Much too much... Less is More???
ReplyDeleteSECOND!!!!
ReplyDeleteWhy are they all funny looking (MBGN girls)? And why do they all have this funny horrid makeup on??
WIll return later to post more
Ha!!! A record!! For the first time ever!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteAnyway, back to my commenting. The MGBN girls look awful. They've all got fake hair and hideously applied makeup. And for some reason they all just look very, very local. (No I am not hating, it is true). Yay!! So Blessing hasn't been kicked off!! Hardcore!! I'm going to do a little rain dance around my bed in my dorm!!

ReplyDeletewhat happened, i am damn ugly but kai where are all the fine girls this year, didnt they apply or is it the camera not doing justice to these girls...or is it the make up or the poses...na wah ho
I echo the comments about the make up. They all look like drag queens. and whats up wiv the cheap synthetic hair? As for apprentice, i am very impressed. check out my blog
ReplyDeleteSilverbird is having a laugh!
ReplyDeletepls who did some these girls make up??? hideous is not even the word
ReplyDeleteand nole i had d same question. i guess not...

anambra
benue
abuja
ondo

kogi
niger
taraba

i think there r some pretty gurls on there only if their make up was done right nd better photo quality
ReplyDeletemehhnnnnn... i'm with u.. my lips are working hard 2 stay shut right now and not judge.....
ReplyDeletelips shut
lips shut
hmmm bella...didn't hear you say that about last year's contestants and they were downright repulsive
ReplyDeletethe makeup is horrid here but at least SOME of these girls have potential and the winner cannot get any worse than Munachi
Munachi, though cute, is in desperate need of braces and a nose job
that is all
why are some of the girls posing like wannabe porn stars?
ReplyDeletechin up and smile brightly ladies!
sugabelly joblessness is a disease...crack open your schoolbook biko! lol
I'm not sure, but i counted more than ten igbo girls??? from plateau, nassarawa, ondo ???!!! odikwa serious oh!
ReplyDeleteall the girls look alike sef!@ nole the girls just represnt whatever states they give them too...
ReplyDelete@Anonymous 12:52 - A disease that has taken hold of me! *I proceed with my rain dance*
ReplyDelete@chelle: odikwa risky!!!
It is amazing the number of Igbo girls from all the "Igbo by association" states. Hmm... we get around...
I'm hungry....
...I'm tired of living in this country...
:(
I know! I'll cast a pounded yam and pepper soup spell!
*Booyakasha!! * Booyakasha!!* Kpehe! * Kpehe!* Kpehe!**

:( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :(
*I weep*
*I rent my clothes*
whatz up with the igbo girl claiming a yoruba state and vive versa.....
ReplyDeleteI think(my opinion) that most of the girls didn't meet the beauty cut....Atleast, am very sure plenty beautiful girls still dey for naija.... but overall, the look aiit. They also need to cut down on the make up.
OMG... what the hell. They look horrible. I'm going to give them all the benefit of doubt and blame the horrendous styling and the lower-than-average photo quality.
ReplyDeleteI want to believe very strongly that na d make up o bcos forgerrit this girls r not fine at all. im sorry o, no offence meant
ReplyDeleteI think its the makeup and photo quality because I just saw the girls on Silverbird and most of them are actually very pretty. oh well, lets wait for the photos from the show.
ReplyDeletethe ifeyinwa's look just too much. nuff said......
ReplyDeletewow... how come dere are so many igbo girls... and i thought you can only represent the state your from... well maybe they are finer than that but the pictures didnt jst tan probably d fault of d photographer or sumtin
ReplyDeleteVery nice looking girls, and it shows how 'detribalised' Nigerians are:
ReplyDeleteThis is what I picked out from the list:
EYAKUSE INYANG - Yobe
IFEYINWA NWOKOLO - Ondo
IFEYINWA NEBEDUM - Plateau
IJEOMA MBAWUIKE - Ogun
JOY AKPAN - Kogi
JOYCE CHIDEBE - Gombe
LOVETH AJUFOH -Niger
OGONNA AMOBI - Oyo
PRINCESS AMADI - Adamawa
STEPHANIE OFORKA -Taraba
SYLVIA AGBUGBAERULEKE -Imo
UCHECHI EJIOGU - Nassarawa
Assuming they are not plants, or filling up for the those with 'more morals' as the moderator of a Nigerian forum once said. Then its a great thing.
(God forgive me) But they're just up to the standard of Miss World pageants IMO. But the ones that are still 'manageable' are Ifeyinwa-Plataeu state, Itohan-Ekiti state and Stefanie-Taraba state.
ReplyDeleteI'm with sugabelly. I was about to ask if they all bought their cheap weaves from the same spot??? They don't look beauty pagent material. Maybe when they win, the process of going from ugly ducking to beauty manifests??? Oh well, beauty...
ReplyDeleteNfeyinwa.... an ondo girl?
ReplyDeletethey need to find an Akin... girl to represent abeg. The contestants are not even all that. Bella ur blog rocks.
i fine pass all of them sef...where have i been? ehn?
Bella.. I always wanted to ask where you lived. Do you live I Naija?....
ReplyDeleteAnambra, Taraba and Plateau...
ReplyDeleteIt seems like people have started doing weaves properly now in naija...why can't these hair stylists be employed for naija movies cos if have to see one more orange weave that is perpendicular to the wearer's head.....
I hate the ones with blond hair! Espe. that it's not nappy. Schew.
ReplyDeleteThis are beautiful girls but they have too much deg-on make up on some of them look like men. definately on the most beautiful at all we can do better
ReplyDeleteMost Beautiful Girl In IgboLand or something???
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure it's represented. My northern state is represented by an Igbo girl even the Sharia states. I'm angry 'cause I could have done it shey???
It's better to leave 'em out than homogenizing the competition its no longer Nigerian.
the pics dont looke promising @ all..but maybe its just bad pictures/bad make up. We'll see
ReplyDelete@Ladi: I do not see why you are angry. They announced they were doing a competition and those that wanted to participate went. How is it the fault of the Igbo girl that lives in Nassarrawa that the Hausa girl in the same state did not go and she went?
ReplyDeleteNobody is homogenising anything. There is only one conclusion to be drawn from this multi-Igbo babe phenomenon : If Hausa babes don't think they're fine, Igbo babes definitely do.
Abi you were saying, you could have gone and competed too and represented your state.
dear bellanaija,
ReplyDeletei love your blog and i always look forward to new posts...i would like to ask for what you do to stop/restrict people from taking information from your blog.....my friend has been having people taking information from her blog without giving due credit........
I like Imo.
ReplyDeleteWith the exception of Anambra and Nassarawa and probably Ogun, the girls look devilish.Who was their Makeup artist. Before too much is too much.
ReplyDeleteBebue, Anambra and Taraba are definitely the girls to watch! Well done to Silverbird once again. The photos could have been much better though
ReplyDeletehahahaahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahhahahahaahahhahaahhaahahahahhahahahahahahahahhaahahahahhahaha.....are they serious about those girls..i know ppl that look better than that now..haba...damn they makin Naija babes look bad ooo...damn again!!!...
ReplyDeletelol @ ladi.. hmm I wonder why we yoruba gals no fine hehehe hence the 'ahem' 'marginalization o! LOL
ReplyDelete@ sugabelly
ReplyDeleteu must be really funny. i agree that their make up looks tacky and all but i dont understand the ''they look local'' thing.
should they look 'international'' before. they are nigeriand and i dont understand how they should look. abeg those of us who have managed to go abroad should not start looking down on others.
....the only beauty here is the girl from anambra state...then again..anambra girls are always too HOTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT!!!
ReplyDeletethe rest should forget it..it aint happening.
SYLVIA AGBUGBAERULEKE. Wow! I just gave up after the first 3 syllables. Let her come to yankee and lets see how dem go pronounce am
ReplyDeleteI personally agree about the makeup also aren't the contestant suppose to represent their individual state? Ifeyinwa is from Ondo excuse me that's so Igbo.
ReplyDeleteThis is worst group ever.
Anybody with some sense and tact can see that these girls are working with bad makeup, bad hair, bad photography, bad lighting and no airbrushing. We may have seen more beautiful girls but the girls you see are the girls who registered and started from the smaller competitions. For example, most beauiful in whatever city, corporate sponsored beauty pagents, campus queens e.t.c. If you think it is easy, try it.
ReplyDeleteSimply because we watch TV, read mags and see "manufactured" celebrities and beauties, you think you can just roll out of bed,put on some make-up and look like them. IT TAKES A VILLAGE. The people who were in charge of this department dropped the ball.
Here there is a serious industry around pagents. There are contestants that have been doing it since they were 2.By then they know their good angles e.t.c. I do not advocate mediocrity but for now in Naija, since Agbani won Miss World, the industry has been getting better.
Most of the girls look like a tranny!!!! The only one with a bit of hope is probably Miss Ogun. Just saying.....
ReplyDeleteOk Bella please stop trying o be diplomatic. The girls just dont look good and i am not sure silverbird is helping in that regard i'ld have thought that after so many years like you said they'ld have figured it out. Rule number 1 - they were not supposd to have a sticth of make up on for their profile pictures - that explains why no one can truly appreciate what they really look like. they dont look nice at all and surely by now MBGN should have come up with a State version so you can have people compete in the regionals and finals so that at least it wont be filled with strictly igbo girls from yoruba states etc
ReplyDeleteCome on people we know it takes a Village to make people look good. But we all know that MBGN has been in this game for over 20 years and should know what it takes by now to make it as close to perfect as possible otherwise they should hire people - We know Nigeria is at that stage - there are tons of Fashion Consultants, Hair Stylists and Make up artists so there is no excuse. Did i hear someone say Money - Dont go there cos they have sponsorship and this year it is VisaFone - the new telecomms company with Mr Ovia himself - so money should not be a problem
ReplyDeleteAll these anony dis and dat bring office politic to bellanaija... De gals fine jare. Na bad make up de worry dem. I must say I was abit disheartened when I saw them on television doing the booty dance. Very raz.. ain't they supposed to be queenly and princess like. Anyway just a thought.
ReplyDeleteI too want to believe that it is jacked up make up and hair........
ReplyDeleteBeautiful
ReplyDeleteI think Miss Enugu is HOTTT!!!
ReplyDeletei think they can only compete and be chosen..so if their not fine..it'ss not their fault..it's the people that chose them that chose to see them as beautiful. LOL..Aprentice Africa is JOKES
ReplyDeletei think Anambra or Taraba look good enough to win it despite the truckload of make up
ReplyDeletelol me too i no understand the yoruba from igbo states but i support it sha. i think its according to where you live/grew up than indigenous or whatever lol.
ReplyDeletethe babes WOWO oooooo!!
ReplyDeleteDON'T U GUYS GET IT? Igbo girls are the finest, that's why they even represent in districts that aren't even their own i.e. Western and Northern states included. The finest women come from the south-south, Igbos, calabaris, deltas, fine, fine chicks w/ mixed-blood. That's why they make competition, esp. Igbo. I must marry one ooooo, lol!!
