THISDAY CONCERT II - PHOTOS & TIDBITS

Hey people,
So the ThisDay Concert took place on Sunday (basically all-day), it was actually supposed to be a '2 Day Event' but some last minute glitches led them to move the whole thing to Sunday.
The biggest news from the concert is that Kelly Rowland fainted/collapsed, awww I feel bad for her but her publicist has used the illness to promote her to no end! All news outlets promptly received a press release...I hope it helps her shift more units of her new album! I love Kelly tho so I hope she is feeling better, apparently she was suffering from dehydration...
Heard the concert was good but it didn't quite have the 'oomph' and novelty factor that last year's event had. I guess last year, they had bigger stars like Bee, Jay, Snoop etc...
Check out the photos below and I'll add more later....

JOHN LEGEND

D'BANJ

KELLY ROWLAND

SHAKIRA

RIHANNA

DIDDY

NE-YO

SASHA

THE CROWD (Molly, I see u lol)

See Johnny dancing with a female fan, apparently the dancing got really steamy and she got a peck as well...Caption it!
Let us know what u think and give us your concert tidbits.
Ayoola attended the event and you can see her account of things - HERE
Diddy, Ne-yo and other Nigerian artistes also performed, I am working on getting the photos.
You can see the Kelly Rowland 'fainting video' HERE...wow, that was scary, glad she's ok now.

Have a fab day!!!!!!!!!!!!!
MUAH!

hahahahaha. Bellanaija, it is your fault that i am laughing. Did you have to link us to the video? eiiii God.

First of all, i have been on a 14 hour light without food and i was fit as a fiddle when i stepped out of the airport. That is definitely not the sole reason why she passed out. Water is in abundance in Nigeria, why did she not have some fluids before going on stage. She should have taken it easy on the booty shaking.

Seriously people, just take a good look at the size of Kelly’s waist and body. I mean they are obvious signs of an eating disorder. She needs to boost up her energy by eating more if she intends on performing to promoting her album.

Rhiannan’s costume is just off. Why is she wearing that hat in a 35 degree climate and what’s up with that flamingo dress.

Bella, please give your viewer prior warning before posting videos of such calibre on your blog.

  16. Bella, I knew you won't disappoint! Thanks for posting the pictures. I hope Kel's is okay too... I was just reading Ayoola's account - why didn't they have everything ready for Saturday now? Ah Naija!

  17. First.. JL has been getting steamy this days, i think I'll call him "Johnsteamy"... first the concert in the Neatherlands now this... is this a cry for attention?? Adaure you berra give your man some love... te hehehe...

aaww poor baby kelly, she is doing a lot to get her album promoted.. I like her...

I hope the event went well...

i still cannot believe Kelly collapsed. Youtube and has removed the video from its site due to copyright reason.... whatever they might be.

now if truely , kelly could not withstand extreme heat.... how come Rhianna, JL and even Shakira could?

If it is the case that humans collapsed as a result of extreme heat then i believe everyone in that room should have passed out since someone indicated that the room was too hot.

Neither will the sahara be a habitable place for humans.

And my point been... they could have given a better excuse.

I really hope she feels better and comes back to Nigeria to perform. she's been working hard to promote and she deserves some probs for that.

heiyyhh! she really dropped on the stage oh! lol
rotflmao @ John Legend, hope he didn't get a hard-on this time lol

Seems like the concert was really fun, wish I was there. Anyway as for Kelly - dehydration ko, I am thirsty ni! Mehn that girl knows better being from here (Houston) and knowing how hot it gets. People are saying it was for promotion. I don't care what it was for, they just need to to blame it on something else - maybe a severe headache or something.

Anywhoo, I hope she returns to her family and friends the same way she left o!

Bella look @ u feeeling all familiar- "Johnny". I like the way he rocks tuxedo pants with white tees, true definition of Smart casual.

  22. Anonymous6:40 AM

Correct me if i'm wrong, is that not Nkiru Anumudu's younger sister on stage? Can't remember her name, she was a new "big girl" when I left Nigeria.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Well, i like Kelly but is quite unfortunate that she fainted. Its a pity. I hope she wld come visit Nigeria again if she is called upon. Oh! poor girl.
Anyway, i guess the event was exciting.

  25. Okay.......That is Nkiru Anumudu in the bowler hat...LOL

So kelly fainted and Nduka rushed on stage and it was cos he panicked...I am sure he had images of this girl dying on his stage. Shucks, i would have rushed out tooo. Apparently this girl is diabetic. She had been promoting her cd non stop before she came here and didnt eat anything so.....She is alright though..LOL

I heard that John Legend went to Ibadan the day before he performed to see his girl's folks....True? Who knows but its a good story

Diddy killed it, Dbanj was amazing, Sexy love Neyo killed it tooo....

I love kelly but damn that video was funny, the chic just dropped lolol. Get well soon.

Read Ayoola's recap, i'm glad, proud and will be girating my hips to the tune of the kokomaster this evening

In all the event was a success, thank God - at least NEPA did not strike

  28. Bella-welcome back! Toni Payne, I am happy for you. We should celebrate with a makeup party abi?
As per Kelly Rowland fainting, menh I understand how that can be. I did a 36hr flight round trip from CALI to Naija. Stayed there less than 48hrs and turned around to come back for trials and more travels [domestic travels]. Needless to say, I got quite ill. She needs food, water and rest. She'll be fine.

  29. Howz the new job going? The pics look fantastic....luvving Rih-Rih's style more and more these days...poor Kelly...atleast it wasnt naija guys tryna get her off the stage a la Ashanti...lol!

  30. you were born to do this..u r doing such a great job.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Legend's pics are like all over the page...what's up with that bella? Mmmm...I smell something. And that last pic on Kelly, do you guys think that was captured while she was making her "dehydrated fainting fall"? You would think that with all the money these stars have, they should at least be able to afford some freaking
bottles of water!!!ha ha...I love Kelly though but just looking at her sometimes makes me wanna strap her down and force-feed her! Methinks the poor girl is anorexic...Period!

    ReplyDelete
  32. hey...the nite must have been fun..why am i not there...grrrr

why is rihanna wearing a skull cap and ballerina dress? chei good girl gone blind

  38. the concert was fun but plenty gist ooh.i'll put em on my blog soon as i can.like i didnt understand why they were cleaning the stage for almost an hour after each performance without a plan B for comedy or some other thing to engage people so we just sat there watching them clean and arrange stage.
why did UB40 leave that morning ?........
Shakira perfomed to a, say quaterly filled hall,why.....
    Kelley Roland Fented,why........
    who is is Rihinna?

its quite funny tho and not so funny!

  44. oh my dear kelly, i was there live and saw exactly how she fell, it was so heart breaking.... and her performance was among the best. i think it was exhaustion and not dehydration what with the kind of schedule she must have had and then sasha was so unfortunate to have performed after she (kelly) was carried off the stage...the audience just sat there moping at her, with occassional claps from here and there but thank God for diddy who came and made us temporarily forget the unfortunate incident.

the show was good but last year's was better because they did not take hours to clean the stage after each act.

@anonymous. yes, that was Nkiru Anumudu's sister... God i'm hating on her for dancing with my JL.

thanks for the pics bella. rihanna's outfit is not bad, naija pple, please remember she is an artist. she is performing not going to an awards show. y do u have to make an issue over costume, it is what it is a costume. real artists express creativity and cultures are different. and it seems we naijas are afraid to experiment with something new and we are equally as eager to pull those who are willing to as quickly as possible.

I was very excited to see pictures from the concert and wished I was there in Naija... Till I started watching TV and started hearing the mess all these stars were saying about Nigeria! I was pissed!
Rihanna had the nerve to say the water was so bad that they had to brush their teeth with bottled water! Like barbados can stand next to Nigeria.
Neyo said it was ghetto like his lame ass is not from the hood. pdiddy said that country is so poor he felt so sad for people there; I'm like if its that poor why didn't he do the concert for free.
They forgot to tell people in America that citizens of this so called poor country paid at least $100 to come see their lame ass. SOMETHING I WILL NEVER DO IN AMERICA BY THE WAY!!! So what is the point of this. We Nigerians need to start supporting our own Artists and stop falling over American artists. THANK YOU!!! Support Nigerian Artists.

PLEASE READ THE PIECE BELOW FROM NIGERIAN PUNCH NEWSPAPER AND PASS YOUR COMMENT:

    Oprah Winfrey got it wrong

    By Our Reader
Published by PUNCH NEWSPAPER: Thursday, 26 Jul 2007

Recently, America’s TV girl, Oprah Winfrey, called on America to sever diplomatic relationships with world’s topmost corrupt countries.

Worst of all the countries, Oprah surmised, is Nigeria.

According to her, “all Nigerians – regardless of their level of education – are corrupt.”

It is very pathetic that Oprah could ascribe to a larger population, the evil act of an insignificant number of persons in the world’s most populous black nation.

Oprah’s conclusion is based on the fact that a Nigerian of Igbo extraction was caught with $500,000, which was alleged to have been stolen from a foreigner through the Internet fraud popularly known as 419.

Oprah had sponsored an hour-long programme, which ran for several days on the CNN, with the sole aim of exposing the clever tricks espoused by this group of Nigerians to con their victims.

Much has been said about the greed of the victims themselves, and I need not say more about it.

However, at a time when Americans are committing heinous crimes against children and women, nobody has tagged all Americans as murderous.

So, why call all Nigerians rogues because of the sin of a few bad eggs?

Oprah regularly tells her life story: how she was sexually abused by close relations, how she ‘walked the streets’ (Americans’ euphemism for prostitution), etc., but nobody has ever deemed it fit to tag all American men as incestuous because of Oprah and others’ experiences.

She did drugs – just like the typical American teenager, but nobody has cast all American youths in the mould of drug abusers!

So, why should an individual that is supposed to know better sentence a nation to odium for the infraction of a tiny fraction of its population?

I urge Oprah and her likes to disabuse their minds about Nigerians.

Be wary of requests for money from strangers, and if you fall for a scam, blame your greed and not Nigerians.

    Okoli Vitalis,
