Africa’s foremost fashion week, the Nokia Cape Town Fashion Week took place from the 11th to 15th of July in Cape Town, South Africa.Nigerian designers - Deola Sagoe, Folake Folarin-Coker for Tiffany Amber, Teddy Legbedion and Patrick Osaghae for Blokes ‘n' Divas, Ade Bakare and SA-Based, Fred Eboka participated.I’m sooo proud of them….Nigerian designers are really doing it big! Folake, Deola and Ade are actually my fav nigerian designers.....that said, for the first time in a while, to be very honest, I am not tht excited by the collections they showcased…..You can check out the pictures here:
Very nice..you're inspiring me fashion-wise xxx
ReplyDeleteOhhh I like that hot pink and green by Fred Eboka. Nice to see Nigerian fashion picking up. I'd like to know the price tags on some of these things.
ReplyDeleteWoW, Fred Eboka is HOT!!!!
ReplyDeleteHOT STUFF... why waite money on BCBG
ReplyDeleteI love seeing Nigerian designers do thier thing, now don't get me wrong i think what they did was beautiful but i am not quite getting the naija vibe from thier creations, it just looks like any other fashion show i see on Style Network, it doesn't really give me the chills of something outstanding or special....i think they are tryin' a little too hard to westernize thier outfits, hence its losing its African Edge.
ReplyDeletesome of those dresses are well pretty. I'm glad our local nigeria talent is getting international exposure. there are excellent Nigerian designers out there.
ReplyDeletelove the pink, but they are tres expensive oh. Don't mess with the prices.

ReplyDeleteOut of all those designers. I think Fred Eboka is the most seasoned. He has a point f view and is the most consitent. He lives in Cape Town and has a big following in South Africa. I have a skirt I bout from his shop years ago & still wear it. I think sometimes the collections seem randomn because I guess they are still trying to find their style and not really looking into themselves and cretaing what is their stamp/signature or what sets them apart from the next designer. The cuts will always be european & yes it would help if they infused a bit of the afro roots into the designs so that it appeals to everyone but still has that african touch.
